Evaluation of diagnosis of breast tumors with two-dimensional ultrasound and ultrasonic elastography

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the value of two-dimensional ultrasound and ultrasonic elastography in differentiating benign and malignant breast tumors.Methods A total of 109 breast masses in 103 patients were examined with two-dimensional ultrasound and elastosonography,and the sonograms and elastograms were analyzed,respectively.The results were compared with histopathology.Results No significant difference was found between the two groups in differentiating benign from malignant breast tumors,which indicated a similar diagnostic value.When the two techniques were combined,accuracy was significantly improved(90.83%,P0.05).Conclusion Ultrasonic elastography plays an important role in differentiating tumors which are difficult for two-dimensional ultrasound.The diagnostic accuracy in differentiating benign from malignant breast tumors can be improved by two-dimensional ultrasonography and elastosonography in combination.
