Abstract

Objective:To discuss clinical features and the effect to endovascular interventional embolization for traumatic carotid cavernous fistula(TCCF).Methods:Retrospective research of interventional embolization for 34 cases of carotid cavernous fistula(TCCF).Femoral artery approach was used.Detachable balloons were positioned into the orifice of fistula and inflated.Results:33 cases were cured oncely. One case died by massive epistaxis when waiting for embolization.33 cases successfully occluded the orifice of fistula.32 cases remained the patency of ipsilateral internal carotid artery.1 case occluded the orifice of fistula and ipsilateral internal carotid artery simultaneously.6 months~6 years follow up was performed in 33 cases,no one had recurrence. Conclusion:The detachable balloon technique is the optimal treatment way for carotid cavernous fistula(TCCF).
