Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of benazepril combined with pioglitazone in patients with earlier period diabetic nephropathy(DN).Method: 125 patients with earlier period DN were randomly allocated to three groups:a benazepril therapeutic group(n = 41),a pioglitazone therapeutic group(n=43) or a benazepril combined with pioglitazone group(n = 41).Patients in the benazepril therapeutic group were given common treatment and oral benazepril 10mg per day.Patients in the piogltazone therapeutic group were given common treatment and oral piogltazaone 30mg per day.The patients in th combined therapeutic group were given both benazepril 10mg per day and piogltazaone 30mg per day.All cases were observed for 12 weeks. Before and after treatment, levels of systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic pressure(DBP),fasting blood glucose(FBG),serum creatinine(Scr),urine albumin excretion rate(UAER),24 h urine protein(Upr),urine beta 2 – microglobulin(beta 2-MG)were detected respectively.Result: In the three groups, statistically significant differences in levels of UAER,Upr and urine beta 2-MG were observed before and after treatment(P 0.05).In the combined group,as compared with the benazepril therapeutic group and pioglitazone therapeutic group, the levels of Scr,UAER,Upr and urine beta 2 – MG were decreased(P 0.05).Conclusion: Both benazepril and pioglitazone, respectively and both,in treatment of DN showed better effectiveness in reducing albuminuria.Combination of the two drugs can be synergistic against DN development.
