Effects of 7.5% Hypertonic Saline on Brain Edema After Severe Traumatic Brain Injury

Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of 7.5%hypertonic saline on brain edema in patients with severe head trauma,decreasing intracranial pressure and increasing cerebral perfusion pressure.Method 120 patients were divided into two groups,60 cases in each group,with continuous monitoring of patients with mean arterial pressure,intracranial pressure, comparing each group to reduce intracranial pressure and enhance the effect of cerebral perfusion pressure.Result In 7.5%hypertonic saline group rate of cerebral perfusion pressure and rate of the average arterial pressure were significantly higher than the other group(P 0.05),but with no significant statistic difference in the rate of intracranial pressure between them(P 0.05 ).Conclusions 7.5%hypertonic saline in improving posttraumatic cerebral perfusion pressure and mean arterial pressure has a significant effect.It is worthy of popularization in craniocerebral trauma dehydration in reducing intracranial pressure drug.
