Abstract
Simple sequence repeat(SSR) were used to detect genetic variation among 64 maize inbred lines.Using 20 SSR primers,96 alleles were identified among the inbred lines totally. The average number of alleles per SSR locus was 4.36 with a range of 2-9.The polymorphism information content(PIC) for the SSR loci varied from 0.22 to 0.86 with an average of 0.61.The cluster analysis showed that the inbred lines could be classified into 8 distinct clusters which correspond to the heterotic groups determined by their pedigree analysis.
