Abstract
Objective To investigate the advantages of the patients undergoing central venous catheter( PICC) insertion by B ultrasound-guided modified seldinger technique( MST) in Department of Neurosurgery. Methods One hundred and seventy-seven patients undergoing long-term transfusion and PICC insertion were randomly divided into control group( n = 84) and observation group( n = 93). Based on 4F PICC,the control group was applied traditionally blind puncture method,while the observation group applied PICC insertion by B ultrasound-guided MST. The successful rates of one-off puncture and insertion as well as incidence of complications were compared in two groups. Results The successful rates of one-off puncture and insertion were significantly higher,but the incidence of phlebitis was lower in observation group than in control group,and statistical significance was presented. Conclusion PICC insertion in upper limbs by B ultrasound-guided MST can improve the successful rate of puncture,reduce occurrence of complications after insertion and ameliorate the comfort of patients carrying tubes,worthy of popularization in Department of Neurosurgery.
