Abstract
Problems such as great difficulties,high risks,tight schedules,numerous existing line crossings and strict surrounding environment requirements are encountered in the of the New 5 Lines of Shanghai Metro. Solutions for these problems are presented,with the Metro station deep foundation pits,shield boring across underneath existing Metro lines,and the passenger transfer tunnels and entrance / exist tunnels as example. The concept of construction serves for the operationis promoted.
