Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of psychotherapy in Parkinson' s disease(PD) with depression.Methods 85 PD patients with depression were assigned randomly into treatment group(44 cases) and controls(41 cases).The treatment group received psychotherapy in addition to anti-parkinsonian drugs.Before the beginning of the therapy and after 2 months,depression symptoms were evaluated by the brief Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD).Results The scores of depression were decreased significantly in treatment group compared with controls(P0.001).Conclusion Psychotherapeutic intervention could improve health related quality of life in PD with depression.
