Abstract

The religious development in Jinling tends to be more and more prosperous during five dynasties. Taoism and Buddhism kept recovering and developing in Jinling during the period of Yang and Wu. Nantang Dynasty is a period when Taoism and Buddhism reached the highest point of prosperity. However, the development of Taoism and Buddhism has their respective features. Taoism gradually declines after its properity while Buddhism gradually replaces Taohism and becomes the leading force of religion. The tendency of development has much to do with the change of political situation in Nantang Dynasty and the advocacy of the rulers.
