Abstract

After reforms in Taoism initiated by KOU Qian, Taoism once became state religion in Northern Wei Dynasty. Then Louguan Taoism, a new school springed up in ShaanXi came into being. The development of Taoism leads to struggle between Taoism and Buddhism. Emperor Taiwu of Northern Wei Dynasty and Em- peror Wu of Northern Zhou Dynasty ever issued imperial edicts to wipe out Buddhism. It is known as the Ban of Buddhism by Two Wusin history.
