Trimetazidine for unstable angina pectoris

Abstract
Objective To investigate the therapeutic results of trimetazidine for unstable angina pectoris(UAP).Methods 47 patients with UAP were randomly assigned to receive trimetazidine in addition to conventional therapy for 4 weeks(n=23)or conventional therapy consisting of nitrate,β-blocker and aspirin(n=24,control group).Clinical effectiveness and changes in electrocardiogram,heart rate and blood pressure were evaluated.Results The clinical effectiveness was significantly better in trimetazidine group patients than in control group patients(P0.01).The differences in frequency and duration of angina attack were statistically different before and after treatment in both groups of patients(P0.05).The differences in frequency and duration of angina attack were statistically different after treatment between two groups(P0.05).Trimetazidine had no significant effect on heart rate and blood pressure.Conclusion Trimetazidine is useful for UAP,and deserves recommendation.
