Abstract

Objective:To detect the expressions of matrix metalloproteinase -7(MMP-7)and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1(TIMP-1)in the cervical cancer tissues and the correlation between them. The relationships between MMP-7 TIMP-1 and clinicopathological factors were also investigated.Methods:MMP-7 and TIMP-1 were detected by immunohistochemical technique SP in 53 invasive carcinoma tissue samples,9 samples of CIN and 10 samples of normal cervices tissue. Results:The level of MMP-7 and TIMP-1 in cervical carcinoma were higher than that in CIN and normal cervices significantly(P0.01).There was a weak relationship between MMP-7 and TIMP-1 (r=0.281, P0.05).The expression of MMP-7 was related to pathological classification, differentiation and lymph node metastasis(P0.05),and not associated with age and clinical stages(P0.05).However TIMP-1 had no relationship with the biological behavior of cervical carcinoma(P0.05).Conclusion:The expression level of MMP-7 related to the invasion, metastasis and prognosis of cervical carcinoma, which could act as the therapy target.
