Study on Diversity of Winter Bird Resources in Shahu Wetland Nature Reserve in Xiantao City of Hubei Province

Abstract
The survey on winter bird resources of Shahu Wetland Nature Reserve in Xiantao of Hubei province in January 2007 recorded 66 species of birds, belonging to 26 families of 12 orders. The study on bird ecotype, fauna and key protected birds revealed that there were 39 winter migrant species, 15 resident species, 6 summer migrant species and 6 traveling species. Or there were 43 palaearctic species, 13 oriental species and 10 cosmopolitan species. 10 species were under national priority protection, 24 species under Hubei provincial priority protection. 10 species were listed in CITES and 6 in CRDB (China Red Data Book of Endangered Animals). The paper puts forward the existing problems in the reserve and corresponding countermeasures accordingly.
