Abstract

Objective To explore the blood pressure variability and cardiovascular events in essential hypertension. Methods One hundred and ten cases of essential hypertension were divided into high BPsVC group and low BPsVC group according to BPsVC value.Occurrence of cardiovascular events, blood pressure, the rate of ventricular hypertrophy, carotid atherosclerosis and renal function were compared between two groups. Results The incidences of cardiovascular events in high BPsVC group and low BPsVC group were 44.2% and 27.6%,respectively(P=0.007).The average systolic and diastolic blood pressure of 24 hours and the rate of ventricular hypertrophy in high BPsVC group were much higher than those in low BPsVC group(P0.05);Compared with low BPsVC group,IMT,urea nitrogen, creatinine and urinary albumin were significantly increased in high BPsVC group(P0.05).Conclusion High BPsVC is closely related to occurrence of cardiovascular events and target organ damage.
