Abstract

[Objective]To evaluate the role of somatostatin in the treatment of early postoperative inflammatory intestinal obstruction.[Methods]The clinical data of 55 cases of early postoperative inflammatory intestinal obstruction treated at our hospital from January, 2000 to May, 2005 were analyzed retrospectively. Of them, 18 patients(control group) were treated by routine conservative method, the other 37 patients(test group) by somatostatin combined with other conservative method, then the cure times were compared. [Results] The cure time in test group was 5~20 days, averaged (15.2±8) days. that in control group was 8~40 days, averaged (20.2±11) days.the cure time in test group was shorter than in control group significantly.[Conclusion]Somatostatin has better curative effect in the patients with early postoperative inflammatory intestinal obstruction.
