Abstract

Objective To discuss the application of somatostatin in the treatment for the intestinal obstruction. Methods 114 intestinal obstruction patients from Jan.2005 to Dec.2010 were included into the study. The 114 patients were put into 2 groups: 56 patients in the treatment group and 58 patients in the control group. The treatment group received somatostatin in addition to the conventional therapy. Then the improvement of clinical symptom and physical sign, gastrointestinal decompression capacity and emergency operation rate were compared between the 2 groups. Results The treatment group′s clinical symptoms were obviously improved. The remission rate of stomachache and abdominal distension after 48h was 76.8% in the treatment group and 56.9% in the control group(P0.05);the recovery rates of passage of gas by anus was 78.5% in the treatment group and 58.6% in the control group(P0.05);the gastrointestinal decompression capacity was(212±125)mL/d in the treatment group and(517±134)mL/d in the control group(P0.05);the emergency operation rate was 10.7% in the treatment group and 44.8% in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion The somatostatin in addition to the conventional treatment in the therapy for intestinal obstruction could relieve the symptom faster, raise the successful rate of conservative treatment and lower the emergency operation rate.
