On the Ideal Education of College-English Teaching

In China, the modern education aims at developing modern Chinese with international concepts. Given such a background, the purpose of college English teaching is to help college students to possess English competence. However, the present college English teaching has difficulties in doing that due to many teaching defects. Therefore, the college English teaching needs improvement. Against the situation, the present paper attempts to interpret the necessity and possibilities of the reform of college-English education by rethinking about the situations of college-English teaching, analyzing the pre-conditions of realization of ideal college-English teaching and exploring approaches to that.
