A Critical Review of Electronic Feedback in Second Language Writing

With the rapid advancement of computer hardware and software,the role of computer in both delivering and mediating feedback has become more important.Key areas of electronic feedback in second language writing are examined from three aspects: computer-conferencing,automated feedback and corpora-based feedback.The research shows that it is complicated to evaluate students′ compositions and to provide feedback via computer.Future research into electronic feedback should seek to integrate feedback with writing development,instruction and context.
