Abstract

Feedback has been considered a central aspect of ESL/ EFL writing program and is widely seen as crucial for encouraging and consolidating learning.Its significance has been recognized by those working in the field of second language writing teaching and research.Over the past 20 years,the development of writing pedagogy and research has transformed the traditional feedback mode,with teacher written feedback often complemented with peer feedback,oral conferences,and computer-mediated feedback.Recent research indicates that the different modes of feedback have their roles in writing instruction.Moreover,future research on feedback should be more closely related to contextual factors and improvement in writing ability.
