Abstract

Objective To observe the germicidal efficacy and toxicity of a new-type compound guanidine disinfectant. Methods Suspension quantitative germicidal test and animal experiments were performed to observe the germicidal efficacy and toxicity of the disinfectant. Results The killing logarithm values of Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa exposed to the stock solution of the compound disinfectant containing poly-hexanaphthene-guanidine and poly-(2-(2-ethoxy)-ethoxyethyl guanidine chloride) 5000 mg/L for 0.5 min were 5.00.The killing logarithm value of Candida albicans exposed for 1 min was 4.00.The mouse acute oral toxicity test for this disinfectant indicated that the oral LD50 5000 mg/kg·bw which belonged to actually non-toxic class. The stock solution of the disinfectant had no irritating effect on animal intact or damaged skin and eye mucosa. It did not induce micro-nucleus formation in polychromatic erythrocytes of mouse bone marrow. Conclusions The compound guanidine disinfectant has good efficacy in killing vegetative forms of bacteria and fungi and can be used safely.
