A controlled study on the effect of leflunomide in treatment of iga nephropathy

Objective To investigate the effect and safety of Leflunomide in treatment of IgA nephropathy.Methods An open randomized controlled clinical trial was performed.82 patients with biopsy-confirmed IgA nephropathy were randomly divided into two groups.There were 40 patients in control group received Benazepril combined Valsartan,and the other 42 patients in treatment group received Leflunomide on the base of treatment of Benazepril combined Valsartan.24-hour urinary protein excretion,serum album,serum creatinine and glomerular filtration rate were observed and evaluated in the Fir,3th and 6th months,and all adverse reaction was observed among treatment.Results After receiving Leflunomide therapy,the proteinuria in the treatment group decreased significantly(P0.01);serum albumin increased obviously(P0.05),and patients in treatment group had smaller serum creatinine than those of control group,which was statistically different.The complete relieving rate was 61.9%;the total efficient rate was 90.5%.Contracted with Benazepril combined Valsartan,the efficiency of Leflunomide on treating IgA nephropathy was statistically different(P0.05).The patients in treatment group had less adverse and better compliance.Conclusion Leflunomide is one of the safety and effective choices for treatment of IgA nephropathy.
