Abstract
Objective:To develop a Career Social Support Inventory for Chinese college students.Methods:26 original items were developed based on interviews with college students,the inventory was then administered to 830 college students from Hubei and Sichuan Provinces.Exploratory factor analysis,confirmatory analysis and correlation analysis were conducted.finally 20 items left.Results:The final scale found that career social support for Chinese college students was mainly from parents,siblings,teachers,friends and relatives,whose support was divided into 4 factors:information support,advice support,emotional support and material support.Confirmatory factor analysis had a good fit with the EFA results.Reliability coefficients for the 4 subscales ranged from 0.72 to 0.93,and there were significant differences among each support in every resource.Conclusion:The Career Social Support Inventory for Chinese college students is found to have good psychometric indexes and can be used in future studies.
