Abstract
Based on comparion of internal and extermal features of ovary development, and its histological and cytological observation with tissue section technique, the ovary development cycle in second pubertal female crabs(Eriocheir sinensis)collected in Nantong Jingsu Province. The result indicated the crab oogenesis can be divided into four stages : oogoniumstage, oocyte I minor growth stage, oocyte I major growth stage and ovum maturation stage. The ovary after ovulating were found to be extensive ovarian degeneration, which might be resulted from starvation etc.On the other side,if nutrition was enough the oocyte in oocyte I major growth stage would grow rapidly for the second ovary development.
