Strategic Discuss on Spatial Cluster Development of Small Towns in Xinjiang

Small towns in Xinjiang have distinct feature. the distribution of towns is separated in large-scale arid natural background, but concentrated in small-scale oasis. According to three aspects of current development, which are the trend of spatial development, the role of towns in urbanization and the scale limit to economic agglomeration, strategic idea about spatial cluster organized pattern of towns development has been put forward. There is a dense belt of towns located in northern slope of Tianshan Mount and six clusters of small towns will be formed around the whole Xinjiang in resent years, which are Ili, Korla, Kashgar, Alty-Beitun, Aksu-Alar and Bachu-Shache clusters. Different strategies and proposes of each group development are also discussed in this paper.
