Abstract

sodium bisulfate can be used as catalyst for the esterification instead of sulphuric acid. Isobutyl I butyrate was synthesis from n-butyric acid and isobutyl alcohol in the presence of sodium bisulfate monohydrate. The yield of the ester could reach 99.3% under amount of substance ratio of n-butyric acid ,isobutyl alcohol and sodium bisulfate were 4:3:0.07, refluxed and water segregate for 60min. The reusability of the catalyst was studied.
