Abstract

Many militant intellectuals had the similar enlightenment idea of Nurturing Man in the Spirit of Subjectivity in the period the May 4th Movement. Zhou Zuo-ren and Lin Yu-tang also used it as a weapon to fight against feudal system and feudal culture, whose ideas mainly showed as follows: first, cultivation of people; second: science; finally: literacy concept and practice. A research into this issue is conducive to a deeper and comprehensive understanding of bourgeois intellectuals'.
