Abstract
The callus induction of Bluegrasses is the prerequisite and foundation to establish high frequency regeneration system. Callus cultures were obtained from mature seeds of Kentucky bluegrasses(Poa pratensis L.) and Poa sphendylodes. Mature seeds were cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium(MS) supplemented with different 2,4dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4D) and 6Benzyladenine concentrations. The rate of callus induction is strongly different with the cultivar. The effect of 2,4dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4D) combining with 6benzyladenine(6BA) is better than only using 2,4dichlorophenoxyacetic acid.
