Abstract
Metaphor is a cognitive phenomenon and a basic human cognitive style.This paper analyzes the social function of cognitive metaphor.The study of language functions is an important part of cognitive linguistics.The study of the functions of metaphor helps raise awareness of the functions of metaphor and the understanding of metaphor.Metaphor has significant social meaning,the function of metaphor can help us better understand this common language phenomenon and help us use it properly.
