Abstract

Dibutyl sebacate was synthesized from sebacic acid and n-butanol with SO 4 2- /TiO 2-Al 2O 3-SnO 2 as catalyst. The effects of reaction time, the molar ratio of alcohol to acid, and the content of catalyst on the synthesis were studied. The optimum reaction conditions were that based on 0.05 mol sebacic acid, n ( n-butanol): n (sebacic acid )=4, the content of SO 4 2- /TiO 2-Al 2O 3-SnO 2 was 0.5 g and the reaction time was 3.5 h. Under the optimum condition, the conversion of sebacic acid was 97.5%, the purity was over 98% , the activity of the catalyst changed little after 6 times of reuse.
