Abstract

Recently developed inert (or non-consumable) anodes for the primary aluminium industry are reviewed. Development efforts have concentrated on cermets, metals and ceramic anodes. Inert anode system for aluminium electrolysis is an RD objective of the highest priority for the 21st century.
