Abstract
This paper discussed the significances of using anodes in the process of aluminum electrolysis and pointed out that the inert anodes should meet the standards. The advantages and disadvantages of inert anodes were also analyzed. The research results of inert anodes such as alloy anodes, SnO_2 based anodes, cermet anodes and Cerium oxide coated anodes were reviewed. The problems in inert anodes development that need to be solved as soon as possible were put forward.
