The Efficacy of Acupuncture Treatment on the Incidence of Post-Stroke Depression(PSD) Extractions

Objective To observe the incidence of PSD after the treatment of acupuncture on the patients,in accordance with the traditional Chinese Medicine theory of preventative treatment of disease.Methods 80 stroke patients,who met the inclusion criteria,were divided into the acupuncture and control group by the sampling method of random number table.No antidepressant medications were introduced during the treatment for both of the groups.Two group patients were used with the HAMD score by specialist workers after the end of treatment,the incidence of two groups of patients with PSD was calculated.Results The PSD incidence of acupuncture group was 12.5%,the PSD of the control group was 37.5%.Compared the acupuncture group and control group,the incidence of PSD in the group of acupuncture was significantly lower than that of the control group(Statistcal results of fourfold table Chi-square test,P0.05).Conclusion Early acupuncture treatment was simple,with few side effects in reducing the incidence of the PSD.
