Abstract

Rear axle is the main load bearing member and force transmission parts of the car,and fatigue analysis for it has important significance on improving vehicle safety.Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis was done for the newly developed rear axle, and it was found that steel prop had fracturing risk nearby axle housing,so it was bench tested with verification for fatigue life, and test results showed that it was easy to rupture at that location.Aiming at the rupture location, two optimization programs were offered, and which program was determined better through using fatigue software.By test bench verification,it is made the fatigue life of the axle housing to meet corporate standards, and provide the basis for the subsequent design of the rear axle housing.
