Abstract
Objective: To explore the expression of PTEN and an anti-apoptosis factor Survivin and its significance in basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Methods: The expression and distribution of PTEN and Survivin in the skin lesion and normal skin were detected by immunohistochemical technique streptavidin - peroxidase (sp) in 20 cases of BCC and 30 normal controls. Results: The expression of PTEN was down - regulated in BCC ( P 0.05) . The expression of Survivin was up - regulated ( P 0.001). The expression of PTEN was not correlated with that of Survivin. Conclusion: The abnormal expression of PTEN and Survivin may contribute to the oncogenesis and development of BCC.
