Clinical application of serum HCG,progesterone level in the early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy

Objective To investigate the clinical value of beta human chorionic gonadotropin( β- HCG), progesterone( P) in the early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. Methods A retrospective analysis of clinical data of 50 patients( group A) with the ectopic pregnancy during Jan. 2008 to Dec. 2012 in The second Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital of Liuzhou City were performed,compared with 50 cases of pregnancy( group B) over the same period. The β- HCG,progesterone levels of total cases in amenorrhea within 7 weeks and 7 weeks after were observed. And ROC curve was used in order to find the critical value of β- HCG,progesterone for diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. Results Serum β – HCG of A group was significantly lower than B group( P 0. 05). The ROC curve showed that critical value of β – HCG and progesterone were 5321U / L,47nmol / L with higher sensitivity and specificity separately. Conclusion The serum β – HCG and progesterone have important significance in the early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy.
