Abstract

Ni-W-P alloy coating was prepared using electroplating. The resulting Ni-W-P alloy coating was characterized by means of X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Moreover, the electrocatalytic behavior of the Ni-W-P alloy coating was investigated, while its corrosion resistance in hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid was evaluated. It was found that both the as-deposited coating and the coating heated at 200 ℃ for 0.5 h had amorphous structure. The alloy coating was composed of fine grains and had distinctive crystal boundary, and the grain size slightly increased after heat treatment. Moreover, the heat-treated Ni-W-P alloy had better corrosion resistance than the as-deposited coating, and the electrocalytic activity of the alloy coating could be ranked as Ni-W-P Ni-P Ni-W Ni.
