Abstract
The benzyl benzoate was synthesized by benzyl chloride and sodium benzoate under microwave irradiation and phase transfer catalysis. The influences of different catalysts and reaction conditions were discussed. Under the optimum reaction condition (sodium benzoate 0.10mol, benzyl chloride 0.20mol, HDTMAB 5mmol, microwave irradiation power 800W and microwave irradiation time 10min), the yield of benzyl benzoate was 86.4%.
