Abstract
Objective To evaluate the possibility and the outcome of the retinal detachment surgery under microscope. Methods Fifteen consecutive cases of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment were enrolled in this study. All cases modified retinal detachment surgery observed straightly through microscope. First, buckling and/or circling were performed, then retinal cryopexy sclera were done under surgical microscope. Furthermore the location of the retinal holes were exmined under microscope by indenting silicon buckling. Results Fifteen cases got complete retinal reattachment. The visual acuity improved in 14 cases and without change in 1 case. There were no severe complications in all cases. The reaction of cryotherapy was seen clearly under the microscope, and the observation of cryotherapy and the location of retinal breaks were not affected by mild media opacities. Conclusion It is convenient, precise to perform retinal detachment surgery under microscope, and the outcome is reliable and satisfactory.
