Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To probe into the pediatric utilization of antibiotics in our hospital and evaluate its rationality.METHODS: In a retrospective study,2 400 pediatric medical records of children patients discharged from Jan.to Dec.in 2008 and 2 400 outpatient pediatric prescriptions were randomly sampled for statistical analysis of the utilization of antibiotics.RESULTS: Of the total 4 800 prescriptions reviewed,63.73%(3 059 cases) prescribed antibiotics.62.70% of the prescriptions prescribed one kind of antibiotics,24.60% two kinds,and 11.50% three kinds.The two leading antibiotics used in clinic included cephalosporins and penicillins.The use of antibiotics was irrational in medication time,choice of drugs,combination of antibiotics etc.CONCLUSION: It is urgent to strengthen pharmacy work to enhance clinical rational use level of antibiotics.
