Abstract
Objective: To investigate the current application of antibiotics in child inpatients in our hospital so as to provide the information for rational clinical use. Methods: In a retrospective study, 200 pediatric medical records discharged from January 2006 to December were randomly sampled and the data was analyzed in respect to the use of antibiotics, combined use of antibiotics and the rationality of use. Results: Among them there were 198 cases used antibiotics, the utilization rate was 99.0%. Single drug comprised 22.5%, two-drugs 62.5% and three-drugs 15.0%. The two leading antibiotics included cephalosporins and penicillins. All administrations were intravenous, mainly once a day accounting for 84.0%. Conclusions: Irrational use of antibiotics is a serious phenomenon in our hospital; we must pay attention to the problem.
