Clinical observation of Huabanyishen decoction for henoch-schonlein purpura nephritis in qi-yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome in adults

Objective To observe efficacy and safety of Huabanyishen decoction for henoch-schonlein purpura nephritis in qi-yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome in adults,using glucocorticoid as the positive control drug.Methods Eighty cases of henoch-schonlein purpura nephritis in qi-yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group,40 cases in each group.With the basic treatment in both groups,oral administration of Huabanyishen decoction was applied in the treatment group,while prednisone,1 mg/(kg.d)and maximum dose 60 mg/d,was orally administrated in the control group.12 weeks were required in both groups,The urine protein quantitation of 24 hours,TCM syndrome scores,security indexes such as hepatorenal function and adverse reactions were compared before and after the treatment.Results There was no statistical significance in overall efficacy of Western medicine treatment between two groups.The overall efficacy of TCM treatment in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group(P 0.01).The urine protein quantitation of 24 hours was decreased significantly in two groups after the treatment(P 0.05),and there was no statistical significance between two groups(P 0.05).The TCM scores of primary symptom were significantly lowered in two groups compared with the baseline(P 0.05);between them,the scores in the treatment group were reduced by(5.13±3.42) points and the control group by(2.39±1.83) points,which had statistical significance in reduction range of two groups(P 0.05).The TCM scores of accompanied symptom were significantly lowered in the treatment group(P 0.05);which could not be seen in the control group.During the treatment,there were 4 cases(10.26 %) of adverse reactions in the treatment group and 20 cases(52.63 %) in the control group,which had a signific ant difference(P 0.05).Conclusion Huabanyishen decoction could markedly reduce the proteinuria in adults with henoch-schonlein purpura nephritis,which has the same efficacy as glucocorticoid.However,it has a better efficacy in improving TCM syndromes than glucocorticoid with less adverse reactions and a better safety.
