Abstract
Objective To explore the action mechanism of herb-partitioned moxibustion in treating dysmenorrhea due to cold stagnation.Method Sixty dysmenorrhea patients of cold stagnation type were divided into two groups based on the random number table,30 in each group. The herb-partitioned moxibustion group was treated by herb-partitioned moxibustion at Shenque(CV8);the Western medication group was treated by orally-taken Western medication;a blank control group of 30 cases was set up without receiving any treatment.Result The total effective rate of the herb-partitioned moxibustion group(96.7%) was significantly superior to that of the Western medication group(83.3%)(P0.05).After treatment, differences between the herb-partitioned moxibustion group and the Western medication group in comparing PGF2α and PGE2 were statistically significant(P 0.01).Conclusion The action mechanism of herb-partitioned moxibustion in treating dysmenorrhea of cold stagnation type is related to its regulation effect on PGF2α and PGE2,i.e.down-regulating PGF2α and up-regulating PGE2 in peripheral blood during menstrual period.
