Abstract

There are many discussions about the Bai people's Benzhu (Village Deity) worship or the religious form and social-cultural functions of the Benzhu culture. The focus of discussion falls on the orientation of Benzhu worship. This issue involves theories of religion and ethnology and is closely connected with the national sense and the implementation of ethnic policies by the central government. Further qualitative analysis of the important aspects of the issue is academically valuable.
