Abstract

The Yi people's local-God worship is the result of a religious development.Its origin was the mountain-deity worship.Under the influence of Buddhism and Taoism,it shows much diversity.Its social functions include the protection of the Yi people and their livestock as well as their spirit, a good harvest,the protection from their Bimo God,and its cultural functions are related to their totem worship,phallicism,ancestry worship and their local religions.
