Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical significance of serum uric acid and the related indicators in the progression of type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated by hyperuricemia. Methods Fifty-six type 2 diabetic patients with hyperuricemia and 60 type 2 diabetic patients with normal uric acid were served as the research objects. All patients' height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference and blood pressure were measured, the levels of uric acid(UA),blood lipids(TC,TG,HDL-C and LDL-C),glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c) and C-peptide(CP) were also determined. The levels of serum uric acid were compared between the two groups, and the relationship between the level of uric acid and other indicators was analyzed. Results Body mass index(BMI),waist to hip ratio(WHR),the levels of TG,HbA1c and CP of type 2 diabetic patients with hyperuricemia were significantly higher than those of type 2 diabetic patients with normal uric acid(P0.05).The incidence rates of coronary heart disease and hypertension in type 2 diabetic patients with hyperuricemia were significantly higher than those of type 2 diabetic patients with normal uric acid(P0.05),while the level of HDL-C in type 2 diabetic patients with hyperuricemia was lower than that of type 2 diabetic patients with normal uric acid(P0.05).Conclusion Type 2 diabetic patients complicated with hyperuricemia is closely related to obesity, lipid metabolism disorder, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, coronary heart disease and hypertension, which should be treated actively.
