Abstract

Objective To evaluate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) ,blood pressure, hyperlipemia, renal function and hyperuricemia in type two diabetes. Methods Serum uric acid and other clinical data were collected in 475 patients with type 2 diabetes.According to serum uric acid, the patients were divided into and normal uric acid group. Results The prevalence of hyperuricemia was 16.4% in type 2 diabetes. In the high uric acid group with more males and fatter bodies (higher BMI) ,the patients possessed higher levels of triglycerides (TG) ,cholesterol, blood urea nitrogen (BUN) ,creatinine (Cr) and urine microscale albumin, and lower level of high-density lipoproteins cholesterol (HDL-C) .Conclusion Gender, age,BMI,ankle branchial index (ABI) ,HDL-C,BUN,etc may be independent predictor for hyperuricemia combined with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
