Experience summary on channel regulation in Dongliu waterway on lower reach of the Yangtze River

The Dongliu waterway is one of the famous dangerous waterways in lower reach of the Yangtze River,in which the channel regulation engineering is the first project in development program for mainstream waterway of Yangtze River.In this paper the basic thinking and arrangement of channel regulation in Dongliu waterway were introduced.Based on the actual engineering effectiveness of several hydrological years after construction of regulation engineering,the experiences were summarized,which will be useful for the future design of channel regulation engineering in other waterway of Yangtze River channel.The channel regulation engineering should be conformed with the development of the river situation and constructed well-timed.The design of channel regulation engineering should take into account all the influence factors and every interest with general regulation idea.The study on the theory of channel regulation engineering should be further innovated and developed,which will offer more help for the construction of the waterway of Yangtze river.
