Chinese Hermeneutics in a Comparative Perspective

The problems challenging the Chinese hermeneutics are supposed to be reviewed in a comparative and philosophical perspective,focusing on the intercommunication of catholicity and particularity rather than an ontological ideology.In the teleology sense,the moral orientation of the Chinese hermeneutics is suggested.Specifically,to construct the Chinese hermeneutics in a modern context where the Chinese and Western ideologies experience a fierce conflict,two problems have to be solved: one is the thinking patterns employed to interpret Chinese texts,the other is the ultimate ideal of doing so.In conclusion,when the problems are solved,we may better realize that the possibility of constructing the Chinese hermeneutics in a comparative perspective lies in the interpretation of the moral sense and means of practice of the Chinese philosophical texts in light of the classical Western ontology.That was the concern of ancient philosophers in China(Confucius,Lao-tzu,Mencius,and Chuang-tzu) and Greece(Plato,Aristotle,and even the Cynics),whose vision went far beyond the stars when studying the universe.
