Relationship between self-concept and mental health of higher vocational nursing students

Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between self-concept and mental health of higher vocational nursing students.Methods 579 higher vocational nursing students were evaluated with Tennessee Self-Concept Scale(TSCS)and SCL-90.Results The students possess better self-concept(the total score was 266.56±30.99),All factors of SCL-90 except of psychotics were lower than of Chinese norm significantly,scores of positive self-concept were negatively correlated with factors of SCL-90 significantly,but self-criticism factor was positively correlated with it except factor of psychotics.The more positive self-concept they possessed,the higher level of mental heath they had.Conclusion With the improvement in self-concept of higher vocational nursing students,their level of mental health will be promoted effectively.
