Abstract

Objective To explore the cost-effectiveness of Ofloxacin and Fleroxacin in treatment of lower respiratory infection. Methods Sixty cases of lower respiratory infection in our hospital from September 2011 to March 2012 were divided into Ofloxacin group and Fleroxacin group with each for 30 cases, and they were given treatment by means of Ofloxacin and Fleroxacin respectively. The cost-effectiveness of two groups were analyzed by the cost-effectiveness method of pharmacoeconomics. Results The effective rate of two groups were 86.67% and 90.00% in Ofloxacin group and Fleroxacin group respectively. After a period of treatment, the cost of medicine were 254.30 yuan and 389.40 yuan respectively, the differences between the two groups was statistically significant (P0.05). The cost-effectiveness (C/E) of the two groups were 20.43 and 23.02 respectively. Conclusion The cost of medicine ofloxacin is lower than fleroxacin, and the effective rate of the two rinds of medicine have no statistics significance, so the cost-effectiveness of ofloxacin treatment of lower respiratory infection is superior to fleroxacin.
